Catherine Sprague Wife of E. Davis Sprague
Uncredited and no place cited, but found in Marion County, Ohio in association with other photos from a Sprague family there (Sarah Sprague, widow of William Sprague).
I checked US Census records and found listings clearly belonging to this woman that show she and her husband emigrated from Marion Co., OH to Wayne Co., IL some time in the 1870s. She died sometime before 1920. Her husband, however, was still living in 1920, and other records found with this CDV indicate that he lived to the ripe old age of 98 years - and in fact he appears in the 1920 Census at age 92.
1860 Census - Montgomery Twp., Marion Co. OH: Catherine Sprague, age 32, born in OH; wife of "farmer" E. D. Sprague, 33, also born in OH; and children Lydia 8, William 6, Hiram 4, and Charles 1.
1870 Census - Montgomery Twp., Marion Co. OH: Catherine Sprague, age 44, born in OH; wife of "farmer" Davis Sprague, 46, also born in OH; and all the children from the 1860 Census plus a new younger son (Lydia, William, Hiram, Charles, and John).
1880 Census - Lamard Twp., Wayne Co., IL: Catherine Sprague, age 52, born in OH; wife of E. D. Sprague, 56, engaged in "farming"; and with some of the children from the 1870 Census plus a new younger daughter (William H., Charles, John S., and Phebe Q).
1900 Census - Lamard Twp., Wayne Co., IL: Catherine Sprague, age 70, born Oct. 1829 in OH; wife of E. D. Sprague, age 72, Nov. 1827 in OH, "farmer" ; and servant Nettie McLean.
1910 Census - Could not locate a record.
1920 Census - Lamard Twp., Wayne Co., IL: E. D. Sprague, age 92, widowed, born in OH, "farmer"; living in the household of son Charles Sprague, age 60 and son's wife Olive O., plus grandchildren Katharine age 29, Walter, age 26, and foster son Theron O., age 14.
