Martha Huffman - Cousin - daughter of Adam Hain - married Daniel Huffman

Found Census records to validate the inscription on the back of the back of this card. She was one of four children of Adam and Mary Ann (Anna) Hain - all of them appearing in the 1860 Census.

1860 Census - OH, Marion Co., Pleasant: Adam Hain, age 46, born in PA, "farmer"; with wife Anna, age 45, born in VA; and son Samuel, age 21, "school teacher"; son Eli A., age 17, "domestic"; daughter Martha A., age 15, "domestic"; and daughter Mary E., age 7. Clearly this was a second wife for Adam Hain, given the name and age discrepancy and the age gap between children.

She married Daniel W. Huffman about 1863. The couple had four children, three of whom show in the 1880 Census. (We couldn't find record of the fourth, but the 1900 Census indicates she was mother of 4 children, 3 living). This Census also show Martha and Daniel Huffman living next store to his aging parents, Jonathan and Mary Huffman, both in their 60s.

1880 Census - OH, Marion Co., Pleasant: Daniel Huffman, age 39, born in OH "farmer"; and wife Martha A., age 35, born in OH; with children Albert P., 16; Adelia P., 6; and Minnie M, 2.

Other records show that this woman lived until 1924.
