Norton Banning.
Found this individual in US Census records. The subject was born about 1832 in Ohio. The 1870 census shows him as a farmer age 38 living in Montgomery (LaRue), Marion Co., Ohio with wife "J. J." (much younger) and young children Blanche and Emmett. This photo was probably taken right around that time.
The 1860 Census showed him living in LaRue as N. S. Banning working as a merchant and living as a boarder in a house along with a J. M. Banning, also a merchant. Norton Banning is listed as 28 years old in 1860.
A check of the 1850 census shows that he was the son of Sophia Banning, then proably widowed, and was presumably brother of the other Bannings in the household: George, Franklin, Blake (Bloke?), Sophia, and Jacob (clearly the "J. M. Banning" in the 1860 record based on age comparisons.
By 1880 he was possibly deceased because a record in LaRue shows Blanch and "Emet" still living at home, but with their mother only, listed as "Iminda J." Banning.
