William J. Campbell and Minerva Owens Campbell
Martinsburg [and Marion Co.] Ohio
Photo was found with others, including some of this couple's daugter Claudice Campbell (Clifton). Though the photograph was taken in Martinsburg, Knox Co., OH, the couple lived in Montgomery Twp., Marion Co., OH - these two counties being close and separated by just one county (see below).
Found census records that tell quite a bit about their life together. In 1870 they were living in Montgomery Twp., Marion Co. Husband Wm. J. Campbell was a "druggist," age 22, born in NY. Minerva was age 20, born in OH. In 1880 the couple was in La Rue, Marion Co., William J. was listed as an "apothecary," and they had one child, a 9-year-old daughter listed as "Bird," apparently a nickname, as subsequent census records for her show her name was Claudice Campbell. The couple had just the one child. In the 1900 Census they were living alone in Marion County and their wedding year is indicated as 1868 - the year this CDV was made. By 1910, Minerva was widowed and living with daughter Claudice Campbell Clifton and her husband Day D. Clifton, a banker, in Marion Co.
Earlier records for the the Minerva Owens Campbell in this CDV show that she was the daughter of Hiram and Sarah Owens, of Montgomery Twp., Marion Co., OH. I could not decipher the parents of the groom here from Census records.
